ILORIN, KWARA STATE – The amuGOLD Helpers Foundation’s Save-D-Shea initiative has successfully distributed SheaSAFETY-KITs to over 500 women across 15 rural communities in Kwara State, providing essential protection against snake and scorpion bites.

The comprehensive safety program, launched in partnership with the Kwara State Government through the National Orientation Agency, includes first-aid supplies, protective equipment, and hands-on training on emergency response procedures.
“The question ‘If Shea-Tree is the best for charcoal, what will happen to the Shea woman?’ drives our mission,” explained Amujo Adeola, Managing Director of amuGOLD Group. “We cannot watch these women risk their lives daily without providing protection and support.”
What’s Inside Each SheaSAFETY-KIT?

Each SheaSAFETY-KIT contains:
- Snake and scorpion bite first-aid supplies
- Protective boots and gloves
- Emergency contact information
- Training manual in local languages
- Solar-powered emergency lights
Technical Training and Support

The initiative also provides technical training on safe shea nut picking, gathering, and storage techniques. Over 1,000 women have completed the training program since its inception.
The Save-D-Shea Foundation has committed to expanding the program to 50 communities by the end of 2026, with plans to protect over 2,000 women engaged in shea harvesting.
